In 1977, Captain Don Lipton designed and built Catamaran Kepoikai II by hand, naming her after the Hawaiian word for “crest of the wave.” A 42-foot, 37-passenger Hawaiian catamaran, Kepoikai II has sailed the waters off Waikiki Beach ever since. Captain Don’s vision was simple: create the best catamaran experience in Waikiki. His legacy lives on with Captain Jay, Captain Biggy, Dave, and the entire crew.
Our signature blue and white sails are among the most recognized on Waikiki Beach. Featured in calendars, magazines, books, artwork, postcards, and television shows. You’ll find us right on the sand in front of Duke’s Waikiki. As a Kamaʻaina company with over 50 years of combined sailing experience, every sail is authentic, safe, and full of aloha.
About Our Boat
Catamaran Kepoikai II is a Hawaiian Style Sailing Catamaran. Our boat is USCG Certified and can hold up to 37 passengers and 4 crew members at one time. The boat is regularly maintained and inspected to maintain the highest level of operational standards and safety set forth by the State of Hawai’i and the U.S. Coast Guard.
Boat
Our dual-hulled Hawaiian Catamaran is 42′ long and 20′ wide. It’s equipped with 2 splash nets in the front that provide a one-of-a-kind sailing experience.
Capacity
Catamaran Kepoikaii II is USCG Certified for a maximum passenger capacity of 37 people, and 4 crew members.
Sails
We drop the sails and let the tradewinds do the work! Once safely outside the reef/surf breaks, engines get killed and our sails take over!
Drinks
Drinks are not included with tickets but are available for purchase on board. (Cash Only!) We have Mai Tais($6), Beers($4), Soft Drinks, Juices, and Water($2). You are also welcome to BYOB; no GLASS is allowed onboard.
Sounds
Ask Dave to play his U’kelele… Kidding, our boat is outfitted with a surround sound speaker system playing the best island rhythms to keep the vibes high!
Restroom
Our catamaran is equipped with a small head onboard in one of the hulls. We recommend going beforehand but if nature calls we’ve got you covered.
